It is yesterday's defenders of freedom that make up Today's VFW.
Our Mission:
To foster camaraderie among United States veterans of overseas conflicts, serve our veterans, the military, & our communities, and advocate on behalf of all veterans.
Our Vision:
Ensure that veterans are respected for their service, always receive their earned entitlements, and are recognized for the sacrifices they and their loved ones have made on behalf of this great country.
...we want to welcome today's military service members into our ranks to become part of our elite group.
WWII, Korean War, Vietnam War, Persian Gulf War, Kosovo, War in Afghanistan, War in Iraq, War on Global Terror and other Peace-Keeping Expeditionary Campaigns throughout the globe.
April Military Child Month
April is designated as the Month of the Military Child, also known as "Purple Up! For Military Kids.” This month is dedicated to honoring and celebrating the sacrifices made by military families, with a particular focus on the experiences of the dependent children of military members serving at home and overseas. The Month of the Military Child is sponsored by the Department of Defense Military Community and Family Policy and supported by various organizations such as the DoDEA.
Established in 1986 by then-Defense Secretary Caspar Weinberger, April is a time to raise awareness of the challenges military children face and to express gratitude for their resilience and adaptability in the face of their parents’ deployments and frequent relocations.T.A.P.S. Carry The LoadCarry The Load’s Memorial May campaign takes place all month long to raise awareness and provide active ways to connect Americans to the sacrifices made by our military, veterans, first responders, and their families. Memorial Day is dedicated to honoring and remembering the men and women who died while serving in the U.S. military.
